    What material is used for seawater valves?

    Seawater valves, a fundamental component in maritime operations and desalination processes, require materials that can withstand the corrosive effects of seawater. The selection of material is critical to the valve’s performance, longevity, and reliability.

    Titanium is one such material favored for its superior corrosion resistance, strength, and durability. Its ability to resist seawater’s corrosive nature makes it a prime choice for seawater valve construction.

    Monel, a group of nickel alloys, is another material widely used in seawater valves. It offers excellent resistance to corrosion and high strength properties, making it suitable for various seawater applications.

    Nickel-aluminum bronze is also commonly used due to its excellent resistance to stress cracking corrosion, fatigue corrosion, cavitation corrosion, and scouring.

    Duplex Steel and Super-Duplex Steel are other popular choices, offering excellent resistance to corrosion and high strength. They are particularly effective in seawater process lines.
